Thats definitly not something you can install on your own and it will probably cost a lot to get it installed.

I knew someone would say that...and I know its possible for the right kind of person with the right skills but it still will probably be difficult.
Is it possible to take out the cam through the bottom of the block by taking off the oil pan?

i am currently making a new version of the short runner intake. according to someone i can't mention he uses 6" runner for his 5.4 4v intake at 7200 rpm.

of course we don't have that kind of flow, but dyno sims show a 7" runner with a 1.8" crossection and 350 cuin. plenum volume is good to 6500 and 480hp with fullt ported heads. you guys nedd to seriously consider getting your heads ported with the cams. Al papito will hand port them for 750.00 a pair. just porting nothing else. big flow gain can be realized by just a few old hot rodder tricks at your local machine shop. this is according to FOX LAKE.

1. 3 angle valve job that opens the valve seats to match the extreme outside of the valve margin. that gives maximium throat opening, as the factory leaves it pretty much close. all 3 valves.

2. polish/sand roll ports. AL paptito posted to avoid removing material as much as possible from the ports, but just cleaning them up.

3. bowl transition cleanup.

4. remove swirl brows from intakes at 45 degree angle to the edge of the chamber, avoid breakout to the headgasket o-ring.

5. back cut all valves: - one thing i know little about except it is probably a 35 degree angle cut to the inside of the margin.

6. optional: mill heads to reduce chamber back to original volume. side effect: retards cams 1-2 degrees. i don't know the dimension to mill.

but that's the treatment my heads are getting. probably after the first of the year. i have to cool the spending to placate the wife. for a while. at least ican make the intake for cheap. i will post progress on the intake mod page.

I heard this " that cam (127350) is very radical. I suggest the 127300, but the 127350 is max effort.

if you look at the datasheet for the 127350 it shows:

222 degrees duration @ .050. but.... 169 degrees @ .200" lift.

for the intakes and...

239 degrees duration @ .050 but... 181 degrees duration @ .200" lift.

that is massive duration at .200". i can't even simulate the .200 duration numbers for the 127350 cams. it says max effort, it MEANS max effort.

they are the cams for me.

add ported heads to that cam and you have a beast even N/A.

i have a set of 4v heads in case the 3v falls short, but it will be close.

it's not for towing though.

i know you truck guys are not into serious engine mods like the car guys, but i really implore you to considedr the benefits of flow that is the same as stock 4v. 260cfm @ .600 and 250 cfm @ .500 lift isn't superb, but it's more than enough.

the 4v heads i have flow 260cfm stock.

Ok, adding the 127350 cams and ported heads, what's gonna happen with the low end torque ? Thanks.

What else do you need to do to run the cam for the 5.4 3V? Injectors? Do you have to port the heads? Fuel management? How's the drivability?

Dang it, now you've got me thinking about the cam before I am even done with the headers/cats/y-pipe that I was planning.

Yes, they "recommend" new valve springs and "computer tuning". No mention on what exactly they are shooting for in the "tuning" and I am still curious as to the head porting/injectors etc. Can the tuning be taken care of off of an Edge or does it need to be run on a dyno and done up with the A/F's all through the powerband and off of a more dynamic tuner like an Xcal2?

So, do you have the answer? I figured since Rafa26 and assinator seem to be fairly comfy with the subject they would have some insight. Sorry to offend you....
