I have an 05 F150 XLT, without fog lights. I would like to add the OEM fog lights and have them function exactly like how it would have if the truck came with them stock.
Has anyone done this, and know what I need to do this? Obviously a fog light bumper, fog lights, switch... where could i get the OEM harness, and does anyone have a part number for it?
I would be surprised if the harness isn't already there. I know on my 98 all the wiring was there. All I had to do was put the fogs on, and replace the switch.
You will probably find that with a lot of the optional stuff. Cheaper for Ford to produce just one wiring harness, than multiple types, even though parts of it would be unused.
I have also put a lot of thought into this mod .You can go to a local body shop and get parts cheap.I got quoted for a new oem take off chrome bumper with fogs for $425 complete.Aparrently they can get them from testing facilities that take them off still brand new and then sell them to the body shops.I've seen the switchs on ebay around $20-30.I would assume also that almost all the wiring is already there.Might have to run a hot wire or something but i wouldn't thinjk anything major.Just haven't firgured out if its worth it or not.
here are some part #s for the fog lights and brackets and misc nuts and bolts.
lamp 4L3Z-15200-AB
lamp 4L3Z-15200-BB
bracket 4L3Z-15266-AA
bracket 4L3Z-15266-BA
clip F37Z-13N129-A 2 required to mount lamp to bracket
nut&washer -N811309-S437 4 required to mount lamp to bracket
bumper nut -N623332-S439 6 required to mount to bumper
bolt -W706599-S426 6 required to mount to bumper

i have an 05 xlt and mine didnt have any foglight wiring in place. i had to run all the wiring myself. i guess i couldve bought a harness but, i also wanted my fogs to come on with the parking lamps.
i was able to mount my lights without getting a new bumper but only because i was getting a bumper cover...
heres a diagram of how the wiring is lais out if you choose to do it yourself
i pulled out the light switch knob and tapped into the foglight signal wire there. the switch coming out is optional if you wanted to be able to run your parking lamps without the fogs on, but i didnt use one.

What wire coming from the parking light do you bring to the relay ? Is there only one wire ?

What do you mean "from the parking lights"? If ya mean the one with the switch on it, it's just from a positive power source. You just need enough current to trip the relay.

yes its only one wire, and Myren is right, its onlt purpose is to trigger the relay to turn on and off. the power for the foglights comes from the battery itself. you pop out the lights switch inside the cab and find the wire that triggers the parking lamps to come on (unfortunately, i cant remember which wire). run a wire from that wire to the terminal marked 85 on the relay
When I did this with my 04 the wiring harness ran from the head light switch to the fuse box. The fuse box even had the relay installed but there wasnt any wire on the back side of the fuse box to go to the lights. So I pulled the relay and inserted a wire in the slot that supplied 12v when the head light switch is pulled out for the fogs and ran it to a external relay under the hood to the fog lights. Wired this way the fog lights work just like factory except they will stay on when the high beams are on which is what I prefer anyway.

hey brother, bad ass truck by the way,... Ive noticed that you are running the rectangular fog light set up. Im going with a similar build but i am looking for the circular fog light bumper, the ones that can be found in the harley edition or in the fx4 or fx2 edition. Do you or anybody else know if that bumper can fit in an 05 xlt? if yes, where can i get one or are one of you guys selling it????
