Yeah, Ford is going to make it and the Oil companies are going to buy the patent off them for about a billion dollars.

If it did happen I would trade my truck in in a heartbeat though.

The aftermarket...uhh...market will take a hit though. Developing mods for a one of a kind system only ford is using is going to make modding limited. It always seems as if power is the only drawback, how in the hell is a truck going to sacrifice power. Might as well just get the prius if you can't stick anything back there (I'm sure they'll overcome this before they put it in a truck). Gas mileage seems to be the silver bullet to sales these days. I can just see myself telling my grandchildren, "...back when gas was a measly $2.89 gallon, my truck was getting 8 miles to the GALLON...[nodding in astonishment]..." "You had it hard Gramps, give me a hug."

Wish it would work.
It is vaporware.
Maybe in about ten-twenty years, like the hydrogen fuel cell, or the inertial motor.
Both work fine in the lab, both won't work in the real world anytime soon.
Too many bugs.

We are victims of the success of the IC engine.

Think about it, if you compared a modern hybrid to the engines of thirty years ago, the difference would be amazing.
Lots of power/mileage from a clean running small engine.

But the IC engine will continue to keep getting better for cheaper than any new technology.

Some of us remember the Williams steam car. Awesome.
But the IC got better, faster.
Or the Chrysler Turbine cars. Great fun to drive (if you didn't mind throttle lag from heck) but the IC engine got better faster cheaper.
Oh well, maybe the next wonder technology will be the one.
Chris

Many of us bought our 150s to tow and haul heavy loads. I doubt the truck would do either. It looks like the 150 would be used because it is heavy enough to carry the extra stuff required. The truck will probably be near is's gross capacity empty.

yea prob. One thing which was pretty cool though was that there were outlets in the bed. That would come in handy alot.

I'm going to be buying a new truck in a couple of years and I hope that they have a good diesel hybrid by that point. Imagine 70+ mpg in a diesel truck....

forget personal use.. think of all the other benefits... cheaper products because of decreased shipping costs..etc.
