My '04 XLT Supercab had this issue, I did the above reset, actually swapped to a new fuse since I had a ton of them, problem never occurred again.

Open the passenger door and it might shut off. My 06 f250 XL has this radio problem and it doesn't shut off with driver door open but when I do the passenger door, it shuts off immediately.
