Help me decide...04 or 05 F150

Alright,

My friend has two trucks for me. Both are wedgewood blue with the tan bottom.

Ones and 2004 Lariat with 34,900 miles on it. Moonroof, bedliner, powerslider, bed extender, 6 disc in dash.

The other is a 2005 Lariat with 38,000 miles on it. Same option except it doesn't have a bedliner (not a big deal), bed extender, or the 6 disc in dash.

Both will sell for similar money. I'm putting an extended warranty on each. I have yet to see them but this what I told them I wanted. So it's more of picking which one.

I'd go with the 04 because it will have a lower excise tax, and still has a small bit of factory warranty.

I like the 05 because its newer and should have the first year model problems sorted out (for the most part).

I would go with either, as long as they are both in excellent shape inside and out. Test drive and give them both good inspections, pay attention to all the signs on if it was taken care of or not, and you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

When I was looking for a Supercrew, I was hesitant about the 04's...Actually, I flat out avoided them because of the first model year thing, vibration, and other issues I read about. I ended up coming across an 04 last October that was virtually perfect, the price was right, and after giving it a real good test drive and going through the truck with a fine toothed comb I was confident it would work out. I've had it now going on 4 months, and I've never been happier with a vehicle.

Truth is, if you're looking at a truck with nearly 40k on the odo (mine had 38k when I bought it) that's 3 model years old, if it's had any problems, they've been worked out. That said, if you can work into the newer model year for about the same amount of cash as the 04, obviously go for the newer one! Good luck!

Thanks guys. I was leaning towards the 05 as well. It's really just pending my inspection/test droive of them and make sure they have clean car fax's.

Other than that, I should be the owner of an F150 next week. This will be my first Ford and I'm really looking forward to it.

I can't wait to have a v8 again. Here's the list of my last few cars.

1998 Grand Cherokee 5.9
2002 Dodge Durango 5.9 R/T
1995 Dodge Ram with a 180k miles <---bought a house. LOL
2005 Toyota Tacoma 4cyl <---it's been a great truck, but not enough "truck" for my need.

yeah either one, whichever one works better i'd say 05 to be safe ya know with the first year problems that everyone talks about. I've never had any but apparently someone has.

I have no probs with my 2k4. But...I'd go with the 2k5 simply for the better resale value (one model year newer).
