Limited Slip Diff

What exactly is the benefit of having LSD? Does it help in the snow or rain? Does it help for off road? If you don't off road, is there any use having it?

Helps in Snow or Sand. I do not take my Truck off-road.

Basically a Limited Slip rear end enables both wheels to drive opposed to just one wheel in a Non LS rear end. It's not a totally locked out as one wheel needs to turn faster when turning the truck. Clutches are used to allow "limited Slippage" of the wheels when making turns. It has it's pros and cons. Pros: in slippery conditions both wheels help push the truck forward. Cons: slightly worse gas mileage, and if making a turn in slippery conditions wheels will break loose more often and cause more "fish tailing" as opposed to a Non LS where you always have one wheel trailing and helping maintain contact.

If you're a more experienced driver and don't mind the occasional kick out, and experience slippery conditions on a regular basis I'd recommend one.
