bug deflector
Hi all,
Which bug deflector would you rec?? Ford factory's or after market?? I saw in the other thread that there is one with F150 logo on it ( I liked it ).
I am getting silver F150 so i will go with black or smoke color but my question is if I should go with factory one or the after markets...
Any comments appreciated

I bought and installed the Ford bug deflector and am perfectly happy with it. The F150 logo is cool. Ford has two models, a low profile and a high profile. You can't tell the difference from the pictures in the catalog. The low profile wasn't available or backordered when I went to purchase mine so I bought the high profile model. I suspect that the only difference is that you can't see the top of the low profile deflector when you are driving whereas you can see the high profile.
Installation was easy to do myself and the whole thing took less than an hour, including looking for the screw that I dropped in the gravel driveway. The deflector is very solid and doesn't wobble and doesn't require any "rubber bumpers" to be attached to my hood like a friends deflector on his Expedition does.
Hope this helps.

redstorm,
The factory bug shield is nice. I've got one, but it was an easy decision because the "smoke" goes so well with my black truck.
You might want to consider getting a clear bug shield painted to match your truck color. My prior truck was a Silver '97 F150 XLT. When it was brand new I had a clear bugflector painted to match my truck and it looked sharp. It costs more than buying the factory one, but adds a classy touch to a truck's look.
Premier Motoring has a couple of diferent clear bug guards for the '04 F150:

Some of the Bugflector IIs can be ordered in factory colors, unfortunately, silver isn't one of them.
Good luck,
John

The factory one is fine but if you want to save a few bucks and get the same quality product go to ABC or Pep Boys and get a Bugflector II, mine was only $50 out the door. My .02..

Bugflector II Body Colored
The Bugflector II is avaiable in several body colors as well as smoke, clear (so you can paint), and carbon fiber (looks good on black or dark gray). www.premiermotoring.net . I have a body colored on mine, you can see it in my gallery.

I disagree that you will save money purchasing this aftermarket. I had my dealer add the Ford bug deflector to my truck prior to delivery. He charged me $51.00, installed.
Also - you may want to check on this, because I haven't - my salesperson said that the Ford bug deflector is made of a sturdier plastic than most aftermarket shields.
I went with the Ford for price, install, and looks (I like the F150 logo).

Hi all, I bought a "Lund" from Weathers Auto Supply in Petersburg Va. I like it, but I THINK I have picked up a wind "bump" or noise on the drivers side since I have installed it.
It was about a week before I drove it at 60+ but there is a noise now. I need to take time to remove the thing and road test it again to see for sure. It seems to push air around the truck, and the mirrors seem to be virbrating more. (instead of over ??)
