33' Tire Question

I went to my local 4 wheel part store and the sales person said the biggest tire I could put on my truck was a 33X12.50 /17 or a 285/70/17. However, at www.4wheelsparts.com, their checkout page has a Pro Comp tire that reads these measurements "33/12.50R17 (305/70R17 )." What equals what?

33X12.50/17 = 285/70/17

or

33X12.50/17 = 305/70/17?

Thanks in advance guys! This website RULE!

For the curious, a sacbutt is a trombone.

Actually a 285/70-17 is a 33x11.50-17
a 295/70-17 is a 34x12.00-17
a 305/70-17 is a 34x12.50-17

Tire manufacturers round tire sizes up to the next whole number.
