There are a number ways to check the system.
Use a Scanner to look at the temperature reading to see what it tells.
Look at the dash diagnostic to see what the dash sees from the head temp sensor. Step to the " dEGC reading and look at the number. It is in degree C.
49 = cold gauge reading, 49 = beginning of normal range, 60= end of normal range. What do you see.
Then what does the dash gauge say?
One or all these will show something and a logic of what the issue likely is.
It's not good enough to just say nothing is wrong by a shop.
The 1299 code puts the engine control system in Limp mode.
It does not run very well in that mode ..by intent of design for engine protection.
Next is the engine actually over heating from a loss of coolant or air in the system?
Is the thermostat stuck closed for is faulty?
Some one has to get with the show.
Good luck.

I just explained all the elements above.
Why is the harness not being investigated?
The dEGC at 122 is signaling a fault. That reading is in degree Celsius and equals 251.6 F. This will generate the 1299 code.
You have the answer right in that data number.
The cooling system does not normally run over about 195 F +/-.
Good luck.
