Best way to lift engine with floor jack

I have been searching, but haven't found an answer yet. I am replacing the the exhaust manifold studs in my 2001 4.6 4x4. The engine has to come up on the passenger side for a socket to get on one of the nuts (motor mount flange in the way). What is the best way recommended to raise the engine just a little. I have loosened the motor mount bolts to the engine. I know to use wood on top of the jack. Should I use the front of the transmission pan (at the bend)? Bend of the oil pan? Or somewhere else?

I just lift from the oil pan where the drain plug is.
