I trolled this sight mutable times to figure out the biggest tire size i could fit on my 97 2wd, and yes 265 75 16's will fit on your truck with the stock suspension.

That's a good looking 19 year old truck.

I've run 265 70 16s for the last 12 years on my '99.
It came from the factory with 255 70 16s.
I have to get tires this year and I'll keep the same size so I can finally dump the OEM spare. That tire is 17 years old and has about 200 miles on it.

I believe, as you have, you need to use the stock rims, too. Ps, great looking truck for its age. Those tires are snug, but do look good.

thx:)

thanks guys.
The trucks actually amazing, for having 277,000 miles. So far Ive modded the exhaust, changed the upper and lower ball joints, front brakes and rotors, rear shoes and drums, Plus it runs like a top.

This summer Im changing the shocks, springs, and replacing the real seal and cover with a chrome one.

I'm surprised you haven't lost your spare. I lost the spare that was on my 02 because the cable holding it broke and I don't know when it fell off. Those cables break often enough that the NHTSA tried to get Ford to recall them and fix it. Ford's answer was that if you didn't tighten the cable too tight they wouldn't break. BUT, the replacement cable has a spring on the end that reduces the stress on the cable keeping it from breaking. I hope nobody ran over my tire when it fell off. It could have caused some serious damage. Don't tighten the cable very tight or replace your cable with the new design would be my advice to you.

I check my spare pressure about every six months and the crank has been good so far.

I'll be putting my spare in the bed when I go get new tires, I don't want nobody touching my crank but me.

I need to dump the spare because it's 17 years old and it's 255 , I went to 265 years ago and knew i'd have to put that spare on the front regardless of what tire went down because my 2WD truck has limited slip.

Now at least I'll finally have 265 all around and up underneath.

i figure if i get a flat on these tires, the spare isnt going to help and the truck is screwed.
