Starter?

I disconnected all the wires to get access to the A/C lines. The skinny one needed to be changed. When I reassembled the cluster including the leads connected to the starter solenoid after reinstalling the battery, I connected the the starter solenoid to the top instead of the bottom terminal. I started it after my AC work but a continuous noise, rattling did not go away. I opened the hood , everything sounded fine from there, after about 3 or 4 minutes, I heard the sound that the starter makes when you try and start the engine when it is already running. I shut it down with my key, they tried to start it again and nothing. No click, no turn over, battery is good. Any ideas?

Are we supposed to just guess exactly what you're working on?

Surprisingly, I understand you...

Yes, you melted the starter. Buy a new one and hook it up right.

Thanks Ishootstuff

Thank you for the reply Ishootstuff. I purchased the new starter and have two of the three mounting bolts removed. The third one , the one on top has me stumped. I tried to get at it for 45mins, still looking for the trick.

I am working on 2002 F-150 5.4 4x4. Anyone that knows the trick I would appreciate a hand with this.

...and remove the rt front wheel, it gives you more room to work.

You don't need a deep well socket, but a 6-pt IMPACT socket is HIGHLY recommended. If you round off the bolt head by using anything else, I'll say "I told you so!".

I use 2 feet of extensions and a universal. Gotta do it by brail and it's best to undo that bolt FIRST.
