New used 01 F150 Lariat ext cab offroad 4x4

Well here is my new used rig,or the luxury ranch truck...LOL.
63k 1 owner ,now 66k and pretty clean after 5 hrs of work on the outside.
Figured I would post some pics before it turns the color of my soil, which is real close as it is

a light coat of NM dust

Almost matches the dirt road

Thanks,it was just what the Dr. ordered for a clean comfortable tow ride here.
Yeah Pete, the state hwys&county rds are mostly gravel/dirt in Catron county. A few paved, but still NM style.LOL
Cleaning and getting some wax on really helps in cleanup later, like when it'scovered in dust or mud....which it will.
It has some dings but not bad for being a local truck.
Now I can still use my old Tacoma for hunting and getting in and out in real bad weather.

I was there around 20+ years ago. Delivered a dozen bath tubs to an old building there. Enjoyed the sites getting there and back north to I-40.
Our county roads are covered with horse apples and dirt from Amish Buggy's. LOL Both of my trucks are black. And they get dirty and never get off the pavement..

I got the shop dvd manual & Chiltons, thanks to tips here.
Was wondering about getting more info on VIN # 1FTRX18L11NB23639 since someone posted full readout info for one I had been looking at. The readout was full breakdown.
Is that the Ford VIN ID site?
I'm just looking for as much info on my new truck as I can find so I can keep it in near new condition I have it in and do the smart things 1st before all hell happens at once.

For instance,suspension....when do you replace shocks, struts, ends, etc on these before the front end falls off....which I see daily out here in NM...LOL.
These folks do not know how to take care of a vehicle,Hah. Except maybe previous owner who looks like he /she did.
Truck rides like a dream and I want to keep it that way.
Carfax does not show full service links. So do I just go by Ford basic service recommendations? 66k now on it.

No struts on these trucks, 4 shocks. They use torsion bars instead of front springs. Mine has 134k on it and I just checked the front steering and ball joints. I need to replace the tie rod ends, idler arm and maybe the lower ball joints which I think means replace the lower control arms.

I replaced my OE Rancho shocks at about 90k because I was trying to get it to ride softer. Mine is a FX4 and it rode harder than the 2000 XLT Scab 4x4 I had previously. Anyway, the Monroe gas shocks I put on it were just slightly better riding. I wasted my money changing them. The FX4s came with Rancho shocks.

Thanks,I crawled underneath mine right after posting that.
I was looking at the shocks, which still seem fine. I saw it's just torsion bars,no coil on shock or such.
It rides real smooth, not alot of jolts and noise on these bad roads. Or any you wouldn't just expect...ruts,rocks,etc.
I'll locate any zirks there are and lube.Rubber on ends seem in good condition considering what the eliments in NM do to these things. No cracks, wear I could see.Always wondered if there was a spray on coating to help rubber on suspensions. Not many lube points any more.
I figure I just start with mileage marked recommended services and go from there. I have original owners book in glove like the day it left dealer. No records recorded in it.

I'm lucky it has the offroad stuff like the gaurds, braces under.
What does it not have that a full FX4 does? Posi? Diff gearing?
It doesn't have tow kit besides receiver/plug ins that I can tell. Trying to find gearing/tranny info now too.
I had mostly Ford trucks til 90's.
There are alot of Ford fx4s here,150,250,350's.Most common truck here I'd say is Ford.
ChebbyGimmeyDoggie next.

And I'm real glad I found this site,it is the best.
Going to look for a Toyota one for the old hunt truck.
Wanna keep the F150 a clean ride...lol,if I can here. Thanks for your help.

There is one grease fitting that I have found, on the pitman arm or idler arm. I forget which one. Probably never gets grease.

The manuals I found do have them pointed out,but not clearly so it will be look and feel for the zirks. I hear there can be 2 sizes of those now,if they are there.

You have 3.55 gears, the rear is limited slip. You have a 4R70W transmission. With a 5.4, the rear is a 9.75" axle. Front is a 8.8".
