Sell value of a non-running '99 F150?
I've got a '99 single cab F150 in storage that I parked a few years ago and haven't done anything with. It ran when I parked it but didn't start the last time I went out there. '99 F150, 4.6 V-8, single cab XLT.
Now that I'm married with a kid on the way I need to get rid of it. Any idea what it's worth or the best way to unload it? Is it better to sell it and pocket the money or donate it for the tax deduction?
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks.

2 wheel drive. I forgot to mention that both airbags deployed due to a fender bender. It wasn't totaled and it has a clean title which I have in hand.
No tailgate due to jerk thieves and the passenger side window doesn't roll down. Other than that it was in fine shape and I used it as a work truck. I simply parked it when I got married and let it sit too long. Now I can't spare money to get it running again with a baby on the way.

You still neglected to share the mileage. Has it been fixed since the accident, or are its guts still hanging out?
Fine shape and used as a work truck seem to be conflicting statements to me. I don't think your question can be answered without pictures.
Start with KBB for value. I'm guessing $1500 max assuming it has been repaired and under 200k.

I think it's at 116-118k the last time I looked. There are no guts hanging out per se. I rear ended a car at a stop sign. It pushed the front bumper in a few inches and deployed the airbags. The bumper was straightened out and looks ok. I cut the airbags out and put the covers back in place. Everything else looks normal for a truck its age.
It was my daily driver around town for a few months after the accident until I bought my current truck.

Nobody would give you asking price for a truck w/out airbags, anyway.

I'd pay $1000 for it if the interior and exterior were both very nice. 118k is pretty low mileage - depending on the no-start symptoms, condition of coolant and other fluids, tire tread, and being leak free.
If it looks like a work truck, maybe $750 - just so I could have a spare drivetrain for my limousine.

I don't see why it would be illegal... but I'm not up on law, so ha ha. Regardless, I'd say a grand also. Rates can change depending on area, as the demand can always go up and down. Heck, I recently sold my last truck. A 2003 F-150 supercab V6 2wd XLT with 184,000 miles. Took two days, sold it for $5,000.
