2000 F150 5.4 4x4 Ac problems

My Ac fuse keeps blowing. I have changed it several times and it will work for a week or two but then blows again. The system only works on low and high when it is working. Now the fuse blows every time I change it and does not work at all. Any ideas???

Identify the fuse by its reference number and which fuse box, see owner's manual. We're not good at guessing or trying to read between the lines.

F105 is for the blower motor which is used also for heat and ventilation, not just A/C.

Most likely, you now hove two separate but related problems.

1. The original problem of having only low and high speed is usually due to a damaged resistor assembly, the speed switch, or the connectors and wiring harness between them. You need to physically pull them out and inspect them for melting, corrosion, or other damage. You probably need a new resistor, regardless.

2. Most likely, the blower motor itself has now failed and is pulling too much current but it might be a wiring or relay fault.

If you fix the first problem and it doesn't lead you to finding the cause of the short circuit, then unplug the blower motor and see if the short goes away. If it does, replace the blower motor.

1. I have changed this so I know where it is and should not be a big problem. Not sure where the harness is but I can just trace all the wires coming from it correct?

2. I know where this is as well and think I can change this as well. Should not have to take off the dash to get to it correct? If I just do both of them then it should be good to go correct?

Not necessarily.

damaged resistor assembly, the speed switch, or the connectors and wiring harness between them.

I will check them as well thank you. Not sure what a resistor assembly is but sure I can look it up. Any way to test the speed switch or resistor assembly.

Yes, but inspect them first. Sometimes it's pretty obvious what's failed.

How could you have changed the resistor assembly if you have to ask us what it is?

I changed the resistor before. Is that the same as the resister assembly? I thought they were two different a parts. The resistor was easy to change.

Change out the blower motor and resistor and problem is fixed. Thanks for all the help!
