Intake manifold replacement due to antfreeze leak
#1
Fluid leaking into #1, which intake should I buy.
My mechanic verified that I have to replace my intake manifold on my 5.4 2000. Trying to decide if I should go with a Dorman or a Motorcraft.
Any long term issues with the Dorman? Has Motorcraft improved their design from the original? Willing to spend the extra $$ for the Motorcraft, BUT only if it's really worth it.
Thanks guys for any advice.

Intake manifold replacement due to antfreeze leak
Thought I would try posting here since I have a 2000 5.4.

I did mine in December. My neighbor who is a ford service advisor helped me. We used the dorman. He said he replaces a lot of them, and uses the dorman to save costs.
The only thing I didn't like about it, was some the fasteners weren't as rigid as the original, but I havn't had any issues with it what so ever. No more leaks.

I ended up springing a leak from the old stock intake manifold in 2011 with about 168,000 miles on the truck. It was in the front by cylinder one and the coolant crossover. I was told the two properties heat and cool and eventually weaken and start a leakin. So Dorman it was. I'm just a shade tree mech so went step by step with help from Haines manual and the net. Took me about eight hours that I can remember. Took pics during the process to give myself an assembly aid if needed. It came in handy once or twice. Anyway I have 198,900 now and I've had no issues till now. I am trying to solve a lean code for bank one. Betting on it being a coil on cylinder 4.
I did a lot of other stuff when I had the intake manifold off. ( new plugs, cleaned fuel injectors and new 0-rings, new coil pack, and cleaned throttle body)
Good luck.
