1997 - 2003 F-150

98 4.2 no start

98 4.2 no start

sat for 3 days, went to start and clik! new starter ( clik clik ) new battery ( clik clik ) another new starter because very slow turn when hooked up to booster cables on the bumper. installed new and ( clik clik ) two cables go to top mounting bolt for grounds, big cable goes to top big bolt on solenoid and smaller wire goes to small bolt beside the two big ones on the solenoid. is this wired right ? starting to doubt what I,ve done with the wires.. any ideas ??

You sure it's not hydrolocked?

Coolant in the cylinders from leaky gaskets, which the 97 and early 98 4.2's are famous for.

interesting, so should be using coolant then ! just ran a jumper from the pos. post and jumped small terminal on starter ( clik ) to the large bottom terminal and it spins fast but no engagement .

problem solved ) connected jumper to the top solenoid bolt on the starter and turn the key and it runs. the power cable to the starter is no good.. tks to all
