4.6 to 5.4 Conversion Tuning

My son is installing a rebuilt 5.4 in place if the 4.6 in a 97 F150. We are keeping the 4.6 PCM and have used lots of the guides on here to help. We are having a hard time finding someone close to us to tune it once we are done. We have a complete 2000 5.4 truck for donor parts also. What is the best (least cost) way to get a stock 5.4 tune into the 97 PCM? Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I would recommend you buy a SCT programmer from one of the reputable tuning houses and have custom tunes made. Those will be worlds better than any stock tune.

The truck will run on the 4.6 tune. It wont run near as good without a custom tune but it will run probably well enough to pass an emissions test. A tune in a can tuner wwill probably work great. Edge sct etc.

Mail order tuning is for people like you that live in a remote area.
