Can't tell you how much but the motor essentially has to come all apart on the top end.
Radiator out, Fan off, crank pulley off, valve covers, front cover, timing chains, exhaust, intake etc.
The job needs some one who understands the timing chain setting upon reassembly.
You will need a top end gasket set, new antifreeze and change items that have a lot of age while it's all apart and going back together.
Costing depends on where you get the parts and who does the job/ labor rate etc.
Refer to the Haynes manual page 2B-16.
Good luck.

You're gonna be about $300 in parts depending on what breaks on the tear down, and additional parts you want to replace when the engine is apart. I would really recommend doing it yourself and saving a billion dollars. This is assuming the gaskets are what let go, and not a larger issue with the head (overheating.) I also chose not to get my heads machined.

When I told people that mine blew a gasket, I was a little discouraged when many people recommended sourcing a used engine for the cost and labor benefit. I'm a poor college kid, but my parent's had a spare car, so I did the job myself.

I believe I commented in the other forum about this, but just in case it was a different person, is it cracked, or completely broke? It costed me 500 bucks to get my cracked head gasket fixed.

I imagine probably close to a grand. I recently did it in my 4.2L which does not require playing with the timing. I replaced a lot of stuff and only cost a couple hundred. I had to replace my head.
