Project build "Silver Surfer"

So...picked up the truck this past Thursday, and has been sitting in my backyard until I can get some time to start working on it.

99 XLT 4x4, 5.4L, 34x,xxx kms,

Time to get to work.....long list of things that need to be done.

Spark plug blowouts, possible head gasket....to start at least until I get it safetied and inspected.

But hey...for a grand...I'll take it.

Sorry for the crappy iphone pics...taken at dusk....

I just saw one on a F150 at the scrap yard here when I was getting a few spare trim screws..Almost grabbed it myself as I knew people are looking for them but got involved talking to some guys and forgot. You may want to check local scrapyards for one. I was lucky and mine came with one..

So.....came up with a small list to start that will be changed/fixed...

a) new motorcraft plugs w/time serts for the ones that are needed, motorcraft coil wires and an oil change/coolant flush
b) new battery, new terminal clamps and upgraded power and ground cables
c) headlights/fog lights/bulbs
d) taillights, third brake light
e) chrome front and rear bumpers & new valance
f) harley grille (doubtful but you never know)
g) chrome step bars
h) bed rails
i) spray-in liner
j) mud flaps
k) exhaust/long tube headers
l) 285 series mud tires, 16 or 17 aftermarket wheels
m) intake
n) superchips tuner
o) windshield
p) replace existing tailgate (maybe even the entire box if I can find a flareside)
q) new front seats, not sure if I want to keep the 60-40 setup or go with buckets and a center console
r) rebuild front suspension components if necessary
s) bilstein hd shocks
t) new badging
u) audio system
v) rollup or tri fold tonneau cover

I'm sure I'll come up with more.

So an update after a long winter so far....

Truck is in the shop. I've finally been able to put some $ towards it. Ordered a time sert kit and had one plug repaired. All spark plugs replaced, and replacing the old original battery and alternator. Purchased new headlights and bilstein shocks for the front and rear.

Interior has been detailed and very mint...almost like new. Pics to follow.

Sorry for the hi-jack,
You wouldn't happen to know anywhere in MB where a guy could find a wide top expedition console and a couple of bucket seats, power is better, would you?

I wanna upgrade from my 60/40 setup, this summer, and I want to add a Katskinz leather set-up, if I can find the right stuff. Any tips?

If you're getting rid of the side moldings, I'd like to have them.

Once they come off, they'll be in no shape to be re-installed. They're held on with 3M body moulding tape, and will be curved like a banana (or worse) after removal. (At least mine were.)

To the OP: Looks like a good project. You definitely started out with room to spend some $$$ and stay safe.

You might wanna wait until you can find some seats locally, but keep an eye on eBay for those wide top consoles. They pop up for a couple days and then disappear. The prices aren't the best, but mine looked like it was brand new.

My town has around 800-1k people in it, so local is not an option. If they were available local, I'd be sittin' in 'em
Manitoba is the Canadian province I live in, so I'd like to find the seats/console here, as they would cost alot to ship them from further out.
Thanks for the pointers, I've been watching ebay, off and on, and I noticed the OP is from Manitoba as well, and he has recently done some interior work, so I'd thought he might have a lead on these items.
But if anyone else here knows of these items for sale, please do not hesitate to PM me or whatever.
