was a brand new truck as to why it was changed at 4k. didnt trust a new motor oil to stay in that long.. had little shavings in the oil. amsoil may say to run it 12k or even 25k miles but i dont trust something that runs my truck to stay in there that long. ill switch back and prolly change out every 5-6k depending hows its drivin.

I change mine every 6500-7000 miles. I'm not one to trust what advertising says about a product. Another reason is I am starting to have a little blowby when a oil change comes due i have a little bit of fuel in my oil. Not much but enough it get noticed when i have my oil analyzed...

I've been running Mobil 1 EP to 10k with a Mobil 1 filter. If I were using PAO Amsoil I'd run it even longer.

If you are only going to go 5 to 6k don't waste your money on extended drain synthetics, just use the Motorcraft stuff.

I use Mobil 1 synthetic oil with a a Mobil 1 filter. On previous vehicles, I have used Amsoil which is rated 12-15k. Changed out at 10,000 miles and it (the oil) still showed signs of life compared to "normal" oils

My local Amsoil source dryed-up so I went to order them online and the EaO11 is $17.50 a piece! Plus tax, plus shipping. Forget it.

As of today I switched to MotorCraft. The FL820S was $3.97 at Walmart... no shipping charge either. So cheap, I bought three.

MotorCraft Synthetic Blend 5W-20 was $18.33 for 5-Qt jug.

Let me start off by saying i'm an Amsoil dealer...
Amsoil is a 25K or one year oil change, why are you changing it so soon? Of course you are going to pay more doing that, its not desiginde to be changed that soon.

It could actually go longer, I went 180K miles on mine in my 87' K5 Blazer and it was perfect and we have reports of truckers running over 300K.

You can get an oil annalysis from amsoil if you are worried about it.

Thank you!

As above... how often did you change the filter? The Amsoil filters last longer than normal off the shelf oil filters as well and therefore makes them cheaper if you follow the directions.

Overall, I would choose and stick with Amsoil, I use it in EVERYTHING in and on my truck.
Anyquestions, feel free to contact me!

Per maker specs:

Amsoil EaO:

50.0% @ 7 micron (nominal)
98.7% @ 15 microns
99.8% @ 20 microns

Purolator PureONE:

50.0% @ 5 micron (nominal)
92.8% @ 10 micron
99.2% @ 15 micron
99.9% @ 20 micron

Since Amsoil has changed the supplier of it's filters from Donaldson to Champion, there's little value in the Amsoil filter anymore over others, especially at the going price. The best filter out there is still the Pure One for your Ford engine which we all know is the same as a Motorcraft.

Please

Bottle it, - sell it then. That would be golden. Or closer to it.

The walmarts in my area have been getting poor about carrying Motorcraft. They have picked up pureolater though. I have to look for it everytime I'm there and snag the motorcraft when they have it..
