HELP!! Truck won't start....

Hi Guys, I was wondering what you guys think my problem is? I drove my truck today and parked it for 30 minutes or so..I came back to start it and it would turn over fine but a real faint rough idle..this went on for 15-20 cranks..gave it a rest and then turned it over and floored it 3-4 times and BAM! it started and ran just fine. One thing I might point out is..the last 2 weeks when I start it after it's warm there was just a tiny bit of delay when I turned the key, I'm talking a real tiny hestitation that I noticed that your average person wouldn't..I'm kinda ****..lol Any thoughts what this might be? I'm out of work and can't afford to take it in unless absolutely necessary. My truck is a 2001 with 83k..original plugs. It's running perfect but I dont want to be stranded on the road. Any input from you guy's would be much appreciated. RH

Possible problems that need to be checked:

Fuel pump operational
Fuel Pump Driver Module operational and casing not cracked

Could be other things also, but thats where I would start

Can fuel pumps just kinda peter out slowly?
Any way to describe where that's located? (Fuel Pump Driver Module operational and casing not cracked
) Thank you!

Your 01 doesn't have a fuel pump module it is not a returnless system. Clean the MAF and clean the IAC. Check the air filter. If the butterfly in the throttle body doesn't close properly it could keep the TPS from indicating idle and screw with the idle.

At 83k it's just about time for plugs.

Does it start if you slightly press on the gas?

You may have a leaky fuel injector.

Didn't seem to, but it only did it once and that was today.

Yea, sounds like simple maintenance is needed. Do what you can, plugs, clean the MAF and IAC as posted above, don't forget the fuel filter. There's write-ups in the how to section on this site.
