Help Needed on 1999 5.4. Oil Sending Unit???
I am working on a 1999 F-250 with a 5.4 v8. Can anyone tell me where the oil sending unit is located? My brother in law paid some fly by night to replace his oil pump, which the fly by night said needed replacing. Well still having the low oil pressure/no oil pressure problem. I am going to hook up a manual oil pressure gauge and see what we have as far as oil pressure. Thanks. Chief Mike

Should find it right on the oil filter to block adapter.
It's only a switch that closes it's contacts when it detects about 8 psi of oil pressure.
Common problem.
The dash gage is not a true oil pressure indication of varying pressue but just goes to a mid position when the switch closes.
Sorry he got taken for big bucks in labor and the cost of a pump and gaskets.
This should have been replaced first, just on cost alone.
All you need to do is measure for a short with a meter when the motor is running. If it is open, it's faulty.
Good luck.

8psi at idle maybe, but hardly appropriate for anything but.
