Where do I Start??
I have a 1997 F150 4x4 that I bought a year ago for 3k. Well lately I have been having trouble with it. This is the list....
1. Oil leaking somewhere on the value gaskets. Think it is on the driver side.
2. Coolant smell in the cab and fogging the windows up but not leaking any coolant in the floor.
3. When running it is smoking out of the pass side but not the driver side.
4. When you press the gas to go faster and have the ac on it clicks off and gets warm. Has a brand new compressor.
That is all I can think of right now. Please help. I don't know much about cars other then changing the oil. Thanks

Jack up the radiator cap, park a new car under it and lower cap.
If all you can do is change the oil, the cost of those repairs will easily outpace the value of the truck.
It may be worth 1500-2000 to someone with the labor skills and will only be out of pocket parts cost.
Even if your net was zero, you got 12 months out of it for $3,000.
That would be $250 a month, which is less than a rental.
Pouring money into an old vehicle with multiple issues is heading down the wrong road.

Sounds like you need to get a newer vehicle. The F150 you have now appears like it needs a good deal of work, and if you're unable to do the work yourself, we're talking $$$$.
Check out Carmax or some other used car dealership that will warranty the vehicle for a while. Good luck!
Raoul - That was one of the most coherent, logical, sane posts I've seen you make! Are you feeling alright?

1. sounds like a valve cover gasket
2. sounds like a heater core
3. do you have dual exhaust? or are you talking about the engine compartment? if your talking about the engine compartment. your probably seeing the smoke comming burning off the oil leak or the heater core.
4. could be low on refegerant.
BTW you are in for some time and money.
