does anyone know how to reset my computer on my 2003 f150 supercrew 5.4l without taking it to the dealer? i want to reset to factory settings.

 

Either remove fuse F2 in the passenger compartment fuse box or the negative battery cable for 10-15 minutes.

Either will clear the keep-alive memory and will restore all the data tables to defaults.

If your PCM was re-programmed by a tuner or a similar device, that is a different matter.

 

So I took negative cable off of battery, hooked a jumper wire from negative cable to positive post. Or at least I tried to. Got a big spark and some smoke out of the wiring harness. Now I’ve done this same procedure 2 times before and everything went well. What’s the difference now?
