Just wondering how everyone who has one, like's it?
Playing MP3's to watching a DVD. Any little tricks too?

I had one installed in my 06 F150 with the KNA-4100 Nav system.
I also had a rear camera installed.
The only complaint I have, is the steering wheel controls don't work.
But less then that, it pretty awesome.

Just wanted to bring this guy back to life.
Made some MP3 CD's with multiple folders. Like rock, pop, rap, etc....
Also put some video's on the same CD.
Very easy to navigate through the folder's. A lot faster then going through a 100 songs and trying to drive.
Just relaying some feedback on the Kenwood.

 

There are adapters to make the steering wheel controls work...

 

Its going in today, for that.

I figure, I usually keep my truck's for 3 or 4 years and within a month. Not being able to use the steering wheel volume control, has got on my nerve's.

 

Any pictures of this? Hows the picture? How much was it with the install? How do you like the nav? Does it have the ability to route you around traffic?

Sorry for the barage of questions, I'm just very interested.

Unless the street is less then a year old. You'll never get lost. Not sure about the routing around traffic. I have tried the route option's, but I have never taken the route. Just been playing around.
For the money, the Kenwood stuff is great. If their car audio is an good as my home theater system. I have had that for 13 year's and it has never ever gave me one single problem.

 

I got one installed today, the 5.1 surround version, and the thing is awesome. As far as steering controls, if you have your audio guy look into it, mine said Kenwood has a ndaptor for Ford out now that should allow use of the steering controls without the need for an IR/RF converter.

 

Can anyone confirm this. I have not see such a product for the Ford yet but, have been hoping for one.

 

I will this week hopefully, The product is made by Kenwood not ford, nad the Kenwood rep was teh one that told me Dealer about this. It is becoming a common item now with all these steerign wheels with controls. Once I see it I will be sure to post it.

What's your opinion been on the viewing angle of the screen being fixed? My audio guy recomended that i go with the KVT-717 as the dash is a bit tilted in the F150. I decided to go with the 717 and have it waiting for the install once the stealthbox comes in from JL. My other thing that swayed me was that the 717 could come with me if I ever sold the F150 versus the 7017 being double din would be harder to reuse.....Just MHO...what do you guys think of the 7017 with screen tilt. I also am getting a rear monitor installted so the HU will control the monitor in rear for the kids, while I still have the monitor up front for me!

The viewing angle is just fine on the 7017. It could be tilted a little more towards the driver, but then the passenger wouldn't have a clear view.
That's just the F-150's design.
I know that my 7017 will come with me, whenever this truck goes! Along with everything else. From my nav(4100), Pioneer B/U camera, PAC-SWI steering wheel controls, and my Audiovox 916 drop down monitor.
I've already seen it done. I friend of mine had a 97 F-150. He had a 7015, with a 3100 nav and he put it in a 03 King Ranch.

If I was you, I would do what I did. Get a separate DVD/monitor player in the back. So while your kids(or friends) watch a DVD, you still can listen to CD's up front. Totally independent from each other.
