Cruise Control 99' F-150
Ref. Thread "2001 F-150 SuperCrew Cruise Control Issue"
Having similar issues on my vehicle but don't recall ever seeing a "cruise" light on the dash.... I'm not saying it's not there, I just don't remember seeing it. Are the diagnostics the same on the '99. I think I read on the above thread from someone that said they were the same back to '97.
My cruise was working fine until about a month ago (my last post). Made a run from Houston to Dallas and back in a day last week, and was sure wishing that it was working then.

1999 does not have a light on the dash that says 'Cruise'
this is why you can't see it
nor can you recall seeing it.
All we got is the ON/Off to the left side of the steering wheel.
I hit the top half 'ON' to turn it on.
I always do a double hit on the bottom half 'OFF' to turn it off.
I think the CC fires come from the CC being left in the 'ON' position.
Our 99s are at special risk cause the operator has no idea whether the CC is left On or Off.
We must be paranoid about stabbing the 'Off' portion of the switch.

Tried to activate the test mode, and as Raoul stated, there does not seem to be a light for "cruise".
Ran the dash module test that is activated through the odometer reset switch, further confirming the absence of a "cruise" light.
Checked continuity on the Master Cylinder switch and it was open.
Tried to jumper across the connector after I confirmed that there was 12V on one side of the connector.
Ran a road test and still had no cruise control.
All the fuses that are shown on the schematic for the cruise check okay and support other devices/circuits that are all operating as they should... no related problems.
Was my test valid, or are there other inter-connect poblems that I need to be aware of?

I believe it may have been I that mentioned they had it back to '97.... I was mistaken. They do go back to '00 though.... my bad.
As for what's not working here.... could be a bunch of different things, but with no way to run a self-test, it's probably going to take a trip to the stealership for a hookup to the NGS tester.
Freakin' Ford anyways.....

Okay Boys and Girls, here is my latest up-date on this saga:
Tested all the switch contacts at the servo connector with a
DVM....
No "ON" , No "COAST"... All others check within spec.
Does anyone know where the 1K resistor is located for the OFF/ON switch? Accoding to my schematic, it is not actually inside the OFF/ON switch but is in the steering wheel, whereas those resistors for RESUME/COAST/ACCEL are inside that switch.
The fact that the ON switch doesn't work sure will explain why my
CC won't go :-)...As I reported earlier, I have also noted that
the pressure switch at the master cylinder is open.... no biggy
there.
One other favor.... can somebody look at the part # for the servo
control in their truck???? Curious about whether the servo is the same for what ever year model you have and my '99.
