Tranny cooler ? for DirtyDog
Tranny cooler ? for DirtyDog
Alan,
I bought a Ford Racing 18,000 GVW trany cooler from Summit Racing.
Here are the steps I did for installation.
Unhooked lower return line on drivers side of radiator.
used supplied fitting and installed it into lower port and connected supplied 5/16" rubber tranny hose.
connected other end of rubber hose to new aux. cooler.
used rest of supplied rubber hose and connected to other port on auz. cooler.
My question is when I hook up the return of the new aux. cooler to the line that goes back to the cooler. What do I use? The fitting that screwed into the radiator wont work with the 5/16" rubber hose they gave me. I used a tubing cutter and cut off all the extra line that went up to the bottom of the radiator off. I then slightly flared the tubing that goes back to the tranny and had to twist the rubber hose onto it and used a hose clamp. (very hard to get rubber hose over flare. I drove the truck around the block a few times and no leaks. Is this connection ok for when the tranny is under load pulling my RV or do I need some kind of special rubber hose - tubing connector?
How would you connecta rubber tranny hose coming from an aux. cooler to the factory tubing line?
Please help. I am planning n pulling RV this weekend.

Do not use standard fuel hose you need transmission hose. The fuel stuff will swell up and blow out.
I never need any special fittings I just cut the return line from the radiator flare both ends and connect rubber hose to it.
