2001 F150 seems like transmission has mood swings.
This may sound crazy but sometimes my transmission gets in a "bad mood." Now what I mean by this is some days my transmission will shift noticiably hard while accelerating. It will also shift hard when you kick it down to pass someone. It has been doing this for some time now. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this type of activity. I can't seem to find any pattern to when it decides to act this way. This is why is started calling it mood swings. Thanks for any info anyone may have.

. Usually seems to be temperature related. 1 will act up when cold and quit once it warms up while others work great when cold and screw up when it gets warm. Sound like your symptoms? Replace the EPC solenoid. Make sure you get the 5.4 version it has higher pressure capabilities.

Dirty Dog, I just read your response from 2004 and it rings true to me today. I just brought my 2001 Foed F150 XLT down to Florida from Wisconsin, where it has been its entire life.
Well down here it is 95 everyday this time of year and my truck lasted one week. Now it is sitting in my driveway as I am trying to figure out why it won't drive.
I ran a scanner and found the EPC solenoid has a short circuit, the shift solenoid has a circuit failure and the Torque Converter Clutch Circuit failure.
How can the truck drive all these years without any issues and then one day it just stops dead in my driveway?
Will the new EPC solenoid correct the other codes?

Avoid cross-posting the same thing in multiple threads, it only complicates things...
