Rough Downshift from 4th to 3rd when cold

Have a 2000 F150 4x4 with a 5.4L and 41,000 miles. changed the fluid in the trans and converter and replaced the filter about 2 years ago (10,000 miles ago) I do not drive the truck that much. This morning it was about 45 degrees. I drove about 10 miles of stop and go and then got on the highway. All shifting was normal up to 70-75 mph. I noticed on the highway when letting off the gas and slowing down there wood be a "jerky" downshift as I went through 60 or so MPH. I assume as it was going from overdrive to 3rd? It did this a few times. I drove about 35 miles away. When returning home, all was fine. I checked the fluid and it was a low. (1/2 way up on the cold section of the dip stick even though I had just driven 35 miles) Could the low fluid have caused this? I have no codes...I do have a superchip, but never had any problems. I am nervous, my warranty ends at the end of this month. Could I tell the dealer to check the ______in the trans? Thanks
