get a magnet on a stick it helps a ton. I loosen them up all the way, carefully remove the socket , then stick the magnet in there to pick it out. Never try to take them out with your hands or the fall into the abyss.
And yes I have made a few trips to Ford myself
After my second trip I went to the local autoparts store and they match up one for me that was almost the same but I think it was a 8mm head instead of 7mm...worked fine.

I swear to God, I have never owned a vehicle that has more"no-mans Land" spots than the Lightning. Its like it swallows any washer or bolt that happens to drop down. I cringe everytime something slips out of my big mits...and pray to the God of clumsy mechanics that I hear it hit the ground!!

Thats the thing, I have all the proper tools and can get the job done in less than an hour now. I actually have 2 telescoping magnets, but for some reason I was trying to put the bolt back in by hand and dropped the damn thing. Of course it was the one all the way back on the pass side!! I bent one of my magnets all the hell trying to find it. Thanks for the replies guys.

I have yet to drop one of the 7mm bolts yet. I do the plug job in 35 to 45 min. Hour if Im taking my time. Ive done 5 to 6 plug changes trying different plugs. I loosen the bolt all the way and never pull in out of the coil pack and lift the coil pack out with the bolt in it. I install it the same way using the bolt to guide straight to the hole. Havent droped one yet. You have to turn the coil pack at a really bad angle to make it come out. This is just the way I do it, may not work for everyone but might help some out. I guess it does help that Im a mechanic for a living.

it molds right around the top of the flange on the screw.
Brandon taught me the trick the first time I changed mine.
Just wrap the socket and let about a 1/16 " overlap on the
top of the bolt ... Sweet !!! After you get it started, I would
use hand to tighten to avoid cross threading them.

I have to agree the no man's land is high on these trucks. I use to curse my Typhoon all the time because I swear you could drop a marble anywhere under the hood and it would NEVER hit the floor.
Now that I've had a Lightning, I kind of long for the day when I use to change plugs on the Typhoon. No coil packs! Plus there was only six of them. haha. The turbo tended to get a little warm if it had been running within the past few hours though... Ouch!
