Question Stock 16" aluminum wheel size

I just got a set (used) and am courious about the width.... Didn't think to ask when I had them mounted when I got the new tires...

They are the 5 'hole' type that look like the standard steel wheels, just aluminum... When I put a tape measure on it through one of the holes, and lined up as close as I could to the rim edges, it looks like they are 7.5" wide?? I thought they were only 7" from what I was able to find out after a "search".....

I don't really care either way, as these are much better then the painted steel ones I had with the cheap plastic chrome covers on them......

Well, DUH..... Found out that they are 16x7.... After taking off the center cap and removing them to give them a good polish and clean the inside wheel part of all the old brake dust, it's stamped right there in the wheel....

It's funny that they say they are 16" dia as well..... I made myself a round wooden wheel cover to cover up the wheels when I spray on the Bleach White or the Tire dressing to protect the wheels and I needed to make it 17" in dia....

I guess the inside dia of the tire rib is used for the actual measurement and the inside of the rim is used to determine the width measurement....
