Looks handy ! I have a buddy with cattle and he's always towing or pulling something. He's talked about raising a beef or deer up with his truck and a rope and pulley or block and tackle. I like pulling from the front when possible for better visibility and control. Looks like it's seen some chain rub action. I sure wouldn't worry about cutting it off if you don't need it. A muffler shop could cut it off in no time.
