Around here (NE) it seems most contractors use Fords, and when you go by a road construction site, 75% or more of the light trucks on the site are Fords. However, most of the farm trucks are Chevy's. What have you noticed? Also I see a lot of Dodges used for some kind of grunt work (dump trucks. garbage trucks), but mainly as grocery-getters, snowmobile or jet-ski transporters, or just sort of flashy show-off trucks that never haul anything. Have you noticed any trends?

 

Yeah. Punks and first-time buyers have the Dodges around here, except for a few farms, and they don't haul anything, they just have the large duallies to cruise in. When someone is doing work, they use Ford, and sometimes Chevy, but at least 88% of it is Ford.

 

The const company i work for only uses Fords. They used Chevys and Dodges in the past and they felt that they coulnt get the job done so they use only Fords.IMO I woulnt get anything else

 

I work for and around alot of woods crews, and most of the company trucks are fords, but the bosses, and head guys are driving chevys, the company beaters are just that "beaters" these guys slam and smash through thwoods, and the trucks only last a few years, pretty well all of them are XL f150 4x4 , and the bosses drive fully loaded trucks, I think theyu buy these XL's becuse they are cheap and effective.

 

around so. cal. you don't see too many chevy work trucks. All the chevys are pimped out low riders or z71s. People like to trick out their chevys and show off, but you know they don't do any work. Sometimes you see dodges hauling or towing or doing work, but mostly fords are the workhorses, although you also see plenty of nice fords that you know don't do any work.

 

I have to say a good 70% of the trucks used around here in Construction sits and farm is FORDS the rest Chevis or GMC's very Few Dodges Most of the GM and Dodoge trucks are used as a sport truck around here.

 

I have always noticed around here that the chevys are at the country club and the Fords are working.

 

Saw a state trooper in a f-250 pulling a crash simulator.

 

In my area it seems that private companies use Ford and its Government that uses Chev (ie Parks dept, Highway maint. etc)

Except ambulances... they use Ford E350/450 chassis cabs with the Powerstroke (I think the engine has something to do with it)

The only Dodge work trucks are vans... and generally they belong to one man show trades, not large const companies.

 

That's how it is here in the DFW area of Texas too. Most of them are Fords with the occasional Chevy HD(not actually being used to work out of).

 

My dad is the manager of a water company and they have a small fleet of trucks. They were mostly chevy, but now they are going ford. The chevys require a lot more maintainance than the fords in their experience and are also more prone to problems. In the end, for them, the fords are cheaper to operate. I think that's the reason why you see more ford work trucks than the others.

 

Well here in central MN it is equally devided between chevys and fords with a few dodges. the main electric companies here use both. The big potato farm here uses chevys and gmc. And i would say the family farmers here are equally devided between all 3. all though dodges are fewer in #. I dont want to get people at this site pi**ed at me but in my experience all three of these companies make some great trucks. And they all make lemmons as well. I love these new fords(97 and up). But we had a real piece of sh** 92 f-150. everything went wrong- traded her in at 30k for a 98- been a great truck. and i have an 03. also a great truck so far. just depends on if u are lucky or unlucky when u buy boys- and girls of course,lol.

Around here I say it is about a 60 to 40 split between FORD and Chevy with FORD on top all the Dodge trucks I see are sport show off trucks that do no work.

 

i work construction in jersey and and on the sites ive worked you almost never find anything but a ford on job sites. The company i work for has never had anything but fords

 

I own a small comp. down here in the Atlanta area. I'd say 90% of the "work trucks" are Fords. Oh sure I see a few Chevy and Dodge work trucks but they usally say AVON, or FOR SPA TREATMENT FOLLOW ME. Or have a big soccer mom ball on the back. Fords are the only way to go!!
