F150 cargo weight capacity

I have a 2003 F150 XLT 4X4 FX4 package. I hauled a yard of dirt the other day no more than a mile and unloaded it within a half hour of it being put into my pickup. I was told that a yard of topsoil is approximately 1 ton (2000 lbs). My truck went pretty low. Was this a big deal? Do you think this did any damage? It seems fine. Thanks.

im sure its fine. you may want to think about adding air ride air bags if your going to haul much. i dont think im gonna haul much myself but im gonna put a set in. i just got my 150 and sold and older 1 ton. i had the bags in the 1 ton and hauled topsoil all the time. i used to air the bags up to about 80lbs and then fill it up till it was coming over the sides and the truck wouldnt even squat. the bags are worth it to me.

Thanks. Is the F150 XLT FX4 Super Cab a 1 ton? Do you happen to know approximately what my weight limit is for hauling stuff?

No, the F-150 is a 1/2 ton truck. The F-350 is the 1 ton truck in the F-Series.

Add the front gross axle weight to the rear gross axle weight.
Weigh the truckand you at some scales with the bed empty and subtract this number from the gross on the two axles.

(The remainder is bed weight and momma weight)

Just to your blood pressure.

Here is a thought, you said it was only a half mile away, all the more reason to make two trips out of it next time.

I'm guessing you were at or exceeding your limit.

The rule on my truck is:
mulch = 1 yard
top soil/pea gravel = 1/2 yard.
