2001 F150 Factory Radio Removal

I posted this on the audio board, but it doesn't seem like there are a lot of people reading that so I'll post here as well.

HI All...I am new to F150Online...great site. This is my first post, and I am hoping someone can help me. Does anyone know how to remove the factory cassette radio from a 2001 F150? I had the dash apart and in pieces and I still couldn't get the thing out. It seemed like there was a screw in one of the brackets, but it was impossible to get any tool I own in there to unscrew it.

Thanks for any help...

Doesn't it have the four holes near each corner of the unit? If it does, just get some long nails and insert them into those holes and slide the unit out. There is a tool to do this, but why pay for it...

Glad to help That'll be $50 bucks. Paypal pleaz

Use smooth nails, not galvenized so you dont mar the edge of the holes up. try to use nails that fit well in the holes, not too small, but not too big of course. The idea is to release the little catch tabs that hold the unit in. Good luck
