SEMA Ford F-150

Custom ’16 F-150 Is Your Easiest, Cheapest Way to Owning a Show Truck

Most of us can only dream of owning a show truck, let alone a SEMA-quality build. That’s because you either have to give a skilled builder a large stack of cash to build you one, or spend hundreds of hours building one yourself. But there is a third alternative: buy one that’s already built. Aside from saving yourself lots of blood, sweat and tears, you’ll also save a boatload of cash by going this route.

Former SEMA F-150 builds pop up for sale all the time, but usually they’re a few years old. This particular 2016 Ford F-150 Lariat, however, starred in the latest SEMA event. And it was recently up for grabs on eBay, with a relatively reasonable $70,000 price tag. That’s not a whole lot more than what you would pay for a new stock Lariat.

But this one is far from stock, obviously. The base truck itself has pretty much every option except four-wheel drive, and it’s a 3.5 liter Ecoboost model. But after racking up a mere 4,500 miles, the owner decided he wanted to turn the F-150 into a real show-quality ride. For that, he turned to Phat Phabz, an Oklahoma City-based outfit specializing in body drops and air-bagging trucks.

It was there that the F-150 received a stock floor body drop and custom air ride setup. Massive Intro wheels, measuring in at 26×9″ in the front and 16×12″ in the rear, replaced the stock hoops. The whole thing then received a custom paint job courtesy of CD Designs.

Despite the wild mods and aside from the fact that the truck held a spot on SEMA’s floor, it’s also very driveable. The owner has since driven it from Oklahoma to Nevada, Arizona, and Texas. And we’re pretty sure it turned quite a few heads along the way.
