Let’s say you wake up tomorrow with $30 grand in your bank account for the express purpose of buying a new F-150. Choices. Do you want the new twin-turbo tech and the promise of good fuel economy? Or is the always-on torque of the 5.0 more to your liking? This is a battle that, until recently, F-150 owners didn’t really have to consider. It used to be either had to choose between the not-so-great V6 or V8 power. The Ecoboost mixed that equation up a little bit.
Ford’s twin-turbo six has been out since 2011. Back then, the verdict was still out on whether or not Ecoboost was a boon or a boondoggle for Ford. Now though? Well… It’s clearly still a point of contention.
I figure the best way to settle it is straight poll. One or the other. Which would you choose?
