Pickup trucks were once tools for the working class, the blue-collar laborers, the folks with greasy hands and dirty fingernails. Contrary to popular belief, pickup trucks are still tools for tradesmen, but they’ve also expanded to a new segment that many thought impossible, or at least, unorthodox. According to Ford, 71% of buyers opted for the upper trims of the iconic F-150 in November 2016. And if you think that particular month was a fluke, think again. Statistically, over 50% of all F-Series trucks sold on a month-to-month basis surpass the $60,000 mark. Oh, and let us remind you, the Ford F-Series is America’s best-selling truck 4o years in a row.

Who’s buying all these trucks you may wonder? The answer is: everyone. The customer service research company MaritzCX says in a recent study that Americans of all income brackets are snatching up F-150 pickups left and right. Furthermore, they’re skipping on traditional luxury brands like Jaguar and Porsche and opting for $70,000 Ford pickups.

According to that company’s research, the Ford F-150 is the most popular vehicle for people who earn more than $200,000 a year. In a vehicular climate where the consumer’s focus is shying away from sedans and coupes, and focusing on trucks and SUVs, the F-150 is king. In fact, the Blue Oval pickup reappears in the top spot for most popular vehicle for folks with annual incomes above $400,000.

Other vehicles that rank high for people who earn $200,000 to $400,000 bucks include: Honda Civic, Honda Pilot, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Tesla Model S, Lexus RX and Range Rover.
