Forget About Certificates and Fancy Steak Dinners, a New F-150 is the Ultimate Workplace Incentive!

Pretty much every workplace involving any sort of physical activity awards employees for working safely these days. With the rising costs of health care, not to mention litigation and workers comp expenses, it makes total sense. But the awards for staying safe typically underwhelm, to say the least. If you’re lucky, maybe you’ll get a certificate. Or maybe even a steak dinner.

Things work a little differently at Select Energy Services, an oil and gas outfit based out of Gainesville, Texas. Each year, the company awards employees in each level of its Select Energy Safety Award Program. This year, three employees achieved that goal: Kendal Owens, Brandon Boomershine and Bryan Melton.

The best part? All three got a chance to win a pretty substantial prize: a brand new Ford F-150. This year, Boomershine (pictured) was the lucky winner. Obviously, Select Energy Services takes safe work practices seriously. It’s hard to imagine a better incentive to work safely, outside of a big pile of cash.

According to local newspaper the Gainesville Register, the company handed out over 200 safety medallions in 2016 alone, an unsurprising number when you have the chance to win a new truck.

For once, it’s nice to see a company put their money where their mouth is when it comes to safety. And in case you were wondering (because you were), Select Energy Services is in fact hiring.
